The process of this painting is one of my favorites; it was the first larger canvas I hiked with and spontaneously collaborated with nature on. I had no plans, I just followed what was interesting in the forested area I walked through. I painted sunspots and shadows of the leaves directly from the source as the cast onto my canvas. Back and forth from trail to studio I added many layers into this until the painting itself felt like a place that could be explored.
